Job Title: Network Operations Analyst
Job Location- Hybrid- Charlotte, NC, USA
The Network Operations Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization’s critical infrastructure—including servers, network devices, mainframes, and enterprise applications—to ensure optimal performance and high availability. This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues across multiple environments, supporting application releases, and participating in disaster recovery activities. The analyst will collaborate closely with internal technology teams, external vendors, and clients to maintain stable and efficient operations.
In this role, you will
Support servers, network devices, mainframes, WAN/IP Telephony networks, and enterprise applications including Java, WebSphere, and file‑transfer systems.
Monitor system health, execute diagnostics, troubleshoot production issues, and perform root cause analysis following SOPs.
Manage help desk escalations and proactively engage users when surveillance tools detect connectivity or performance issues.
Coordinate with vendors, clients, and internal technical teams to resolve installation issues and support integration projects.
Support release implementations, infrastructure upgrades, maintenance activities, and operational readiness for new or decommissioned services.
Create and maintain operational documentation, including runbooks for recurring issues, system implementations, recovery, and shutdown procedures.
Participate in Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and execution across all supported environments.
What you’ll need to succeed (required skills)
· 3+ years of hands-on experience with networking devices such as Cisco routers and switches .
· 4+ years of experience with Red Hat Linux in an enterprise environment.
· Working knowledge or support experience with IBM MQ .
· Strong command of Linux commands, shell scripting , and database queries .
· 2–3 years of experience with WebSphere Application Server .
· 2–3 years of experience interacting with or supporting databases ( DB2 preferred ).
· Hands-on experience with Windows Server (various versions).
· Proven ability to analyze and debug issues related to Cisco networking equipment .
· Experience supporting Java server-side technologies and J2EE app servers (preferably WebSphere).
Preferred skills: what will help you stand out
· Red Hat Linux certification (RHCSA/RHCE).
· CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, or ITIL certifications.
· Experience with Unisys Mainframe .
· Hands-on experience with IBM MQ and Connect:Direct .
· Strong Linux shell scripting capabilities.
· Experience in credit card processing , digital wallets , emerging payments , or mobile payment systems.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is up to $98,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
