Lead Mechanical Engineer – Power & Nuclear Generation (100% remote)Build the Backbone of America’s Energy Infrastructure
Are you a seasoned Mechanical Engineer looking to work on some of the most complex and impactful energy projects in the country? Join our team and play a key role in designing, upgrading, and supporting critical power generation facilities—ranging from conventional and combined‑cycle plants to cutting‑edge nuclear generation projects across the United States.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of high‑visibility engineering work from concept through commissioning, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and plant stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable energy solutions.
What You’ll Be Working On
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be deeply involved in the full lifecycle of power and nuclear generation projects, including new builds, plant modifications, and retrofits.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Designing and modifying mechanical systems for conventional, combined‑cycle, and nuclear power plants
Performing engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, pipe and equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations
Developing Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), General Arrangements (GAs), equipment layouts, piping orthographic, and isometric drawings
Preparing mechanical design criteria, procurement specifications, and modification packages
Developing and maintaining engineering lists (equipment, lines, valves, in‑line devices)
Supporting proposal development through material takeoffs, work-hour estimates, and schedules
Reviewing designs to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulatory requirements, and quality standards
Interfacing with plant personnel and stakeholders to define project scope and support construction, implementation, startup, and commissioning activities
What You Bring to the Team
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
8+ years of experience in mechanical system design for power generation or heavy industrial projects
(Minimum 4 years of nuclear experience preferred)
Proven experience with water, steam, air, gas, and oil systems
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment and manage competing priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant
Preferred / Valued Experience:
Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain by comity)
Experience with nuclear modification packages and the nuclear standard design process
(NANTeL certification a plus)
Proficiency with fluid flow software such as AFT FATHOM or equivalent
Experience with fire protection and detection systems
Strong computer‑based engineering and analysis capabilities

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $90.00/hr.
