Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering division in Charlotte, NC. This is a high‑impact leadership role for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical excellence, client engagement, and team development.
Our division provides fully integrated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering services across a diverse portfolio of projects, including feasibility studies, renovations, additions, new construction, and design/build delivery. The ideal candidate brings deep mechanical expertise, the confidence to lead multidisciplinary teams, and a consultative mindset when partnering with clients.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of mechanical concepts, system strategies, construction documents, and technical reports for both new and existing building projects
Serve as the mechanical discipline lead on complex, multi‑discipline projects encompassing HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and fire protection systems
Act as a trusted advisor to clients by performing technical analyses, evaluating design alternatives, conducting cost‑benefit studies, and presenting clear, actionable recommendations
Mentor and guide mechanical engineers and designers, fostering technical growth while ensuring consistent, high‑quality deliverables
Oversee mechanical project execution, including scope definition, budget management, scheduling, and discipline‑specific performance
Contribute to business development through proposal development, client presentations, and long‑term relationship building
Essential Skills & Experience
10+ years of experience with a professional Architecture/Engineering (A/E) consulting firm
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Active North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license
Proven ability to lead projects and teams while managing competing priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface confidently with clients and internal stakeholders
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Advanced expertise in mechanical systems and HVAC design
Proficiency with Revit MEP
Experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems
Demonstrated ability to apply engineering judgment to complex, real‑world challenges

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
