How Will You Make an Impact:
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support our manufacturing operations on 12 hour Night shift. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on industrial production equipment, including extruders, knitters, auxiliary equipment, custom equipment, and facility.
This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined technician with strong electrical and diagnostic experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
A Day in the Life:
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on injection molding machines and associated auxiliary equipment
Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems, including motors, controls, sensors, relays, and AC/DC drives
Diagnosing mechanical failures involving hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, pumps, and drive systems
Support troubleshooting of PLC-controlled equipment (basic fault tracing and component replacement)
Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, ladder logic, and technical manuals
Maintain and repair HVAC and facility support systems as needed
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat failures
Document maintenance activities and work orders in SAP
Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to improve equipment uptime and reliability
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on OEE, reliability, and process stability
Follow OSHA and company safety standards including LOTO procedures
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Required:
2+ years' experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
2+ years of industrial maintenance experience working as a mechanic or technician
Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Required
Electrical diagnostics (120V–480V systems)
Hydraulics and pneumatics troubleshooting
Mechanical systems troubleshooting & repair (bearings, belts, couplings, alignment)
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred
Motor controls and VFD troubleshooting
Working knowledge of AC/DC drives
Experience with industrial automation systems
CMMS experience
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.; occasionally assisted lifting above 50 lbs.
Extended standing and walking
Occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Ability to work safely around energized systems and moving machinery
