Acosta Group Human Resource Project Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina

DESCRIPTION

The Human Resource Project Manager leads and delivers human resources projects from initiation through closeout. This role partners with HR and business stakeholders to define scope and success criteria, build and maintain project plans, coordinate cross-functional resources, manage risks and change, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within agreed scope and quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with sponsors and stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.

  • Develop integrated project plans (work breakdown structure, schedule, milestones, resource plan, communications plan) for small to medium initiatives.

  • Facilitate project governance, including status reporting, decision tracking, and escalation of issues and risks.

  • Coordinate and lead project meetings; document actions, owners, and due dates.

  • Identify, secure, and coordinate project resources (employees and/or contractors) in partnership with functional leaders.

  • Manage project dependencies and critical path; proactively address schedule or scope impacts.

  • Monitor progress against plan; maintain RAID logs (risks, assumptions, issues, decisions) and mitigation plans.

  • Manage change control, including scope changes and “scope creep,” and communicate impacts to stakeholders.

  • Oversee cutover and post-implementation stabilization (hypercare) to ensure successful adoption and handoff.

  • Drive quality throughout the project lifecycle, including deliverable reviews and acceptance.

  • Conduct lessons learned and ensure proper project closeout and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 5+ years of experience managing projects end-to-end, including planning, execution, control, and closeout.

  • 3+ years of human resources experience (e.g., HR operations, talent, HRIS, total rewards, or employee relations).

  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, build alignment, and drive accountability across cross-functional teams.

  • Strong communication skills, including facilitation, executive-ready status updates, and documentation.

  • Proficiency with common productivity and project tracking tools (e.g., MS Office and project planning/tracking platforms).

Preferred

  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM, or equivalent).

  • Experience supporting HR transformations, HRIS implementations, or process redesign.

  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions (M&A) integration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting deadlines using structured problem-solving and sound judgment.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Ability to facilitate working sessions, resolve conflicts, and drive decisions to closure.

  • Comfort working with ambiguity and translating business needs into clear project deliverables.

  • Working knowledge of common HR processes and data sensitivity/confidentiality expectations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (hearing/listening and speaking) in meetings and via phone/video.

  • Visual acuity sufficient to read documents and view a computer screen.

  • Ability to travel as business needs require.
