Job Summary
Assistant Project Manager
Location: Forest City, NC

As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll report directly to the Senior Project Manager in a client‑facing role that requires building strong relationships both in and outside the office. You’ll develop through hands‑on experience, peer collaboration, and ongoing technical training.

This is a list of the most prominent duties and responsibilities
Financial Acumen . General understanding of costs, revenue, billings, projections,margin, gains, fades, commitments, AR, AP, etc.
Estimating and Change Orders . Assist the Project Manager with project estimates and/or change order estimates. Identifyingscope and scope gaps. Coordinatingvendor andsub quotes and scopes.
Schedule. Basic knowledge and understanding of scheduling our work and integration with the GC’s schedule.Understanding ofpull planning. Basic understanding of scheduling software (Microsoft Project, P6). Understanding work breakdown structures.Assist the Project Manager and Project Superintendent to ensure deadlines are met, constraint logs are issued to the GC, andmanpoweris coherent with budgets.
Document Control. Analyze blueprints/specifications, review proposals/project requirements. Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
Project Logistics. Coordinate material procurement, ensure compliance with corporate policies and federal/state laws, provide statusupdatesandmaintaindocumentation records.Assistwithinventory and material deliveries to ensure attainment of projectobjectives, schedulecompletionandtimelydeliveries.
Leadership skills . Effective management of the Customers, Vendors,Subcontractorsand Miller team.
Collaboration . Regular communication with your peers around the company, both inside and outside of your region.
Process and Procedures . Must be comfortable with a system that has documented processes and procedures for all tasks. Use of technology platforms for financials, project management,etc.
Networking . Comfortable withestablishingand maintaining customer relations. Understanding the balance between protecting our Company andmaintainingrelationships with clients.
Intangibles . Ability to follow instructions. Foster positive relationships with employees and clients. Embrace and promote corporate culture. Push for continuous improvement. Desire for personal growth.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
REQUIRED
2+ years as an Assistant Project Manager over commercial electrical work
A good understanding of how to read electrical drawings and specifications
Experience preparing take-offs and estimates for change orders
Have knowledge of various aspects of construction (labor, materials, equipment, methods, etc.) as well as an understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards
Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
Strong computer skills and quick to learn new systems
Commitment to continuous improvement of communication,organizationand leadership skills
Effective scheduling and delegation toaccomplishtasks on time
Tactful conflict resolution andproblem solvingabilities
PREFERRED
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Project Management, Construction Management, Business, Engineering, etc.), paired with industry experience OR an overallappropriate combinationof certification(s), experience, and education (journeyman or master electrician’s license)
Familiar with computer-based estimating
Knowledge of billing and collections
