Robert Half Category Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina
Description We are looking for a skilled Category Manager to lead procurement efforts for our retail organization in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role involves managing buying processes, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the efficiency of corporate procurement functions. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in vendor management and strategic sourcing to optimize purchasing activities.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee procurement activities to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and budgets.
• Develop and implement strategies for effective purchasing and vendor management.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
• Monitor and manage purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline procurement processes and achieve cost savings.
• Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and evaluate market trends.
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring high standards of service and product quality.
• Analyze procurement data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize spending.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in all procurement activities.
• Provide guidance and support to team members to enhance overall procurement performance. Requirements
Qualifications:
5+ years of procurement/sourcing experience in a similar environment
Strong contracts and negotiation background
Experience in retail, multi-site, or brick-and-mortar environments preferred
Exposure to facilities, property, fleet, or similar categories is a plus
Self-starter with a build-from-scratch mindset
Interested in leveraging AI and modern procurement tools
Proven stability in previous roles
