Job Summary:
The Maintenance Crew Member is an entry level position. This individual is responsible for ensuring that the facility is clean and in good operating condition. The Maintenance Crew Member typically works under the supervision of the skilled Maintenance Lead and Building Services Director but will also be responsible for completing some tasks on their own.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs the following duties listed and others as required to improve the maintenance of the nursing facility. This list does not include all duties required but is to serve as a basis of expectations. Duties and responsibilities may be added or modified at any time.
- Completion of daily resident work orders
- Performing maintenance activities such as PM'S of equipment
- Performing light repair work such as changing light bulbs, replacing batteries and oxygen tanks. Repairing small items such as wheel chairs and call lights
- Inspecting equipment for signs of wear and tear or damage and reporting issues to supervisors
- Prepare for upcoming move-ins (painting and general maintenance of resident/patient rooms)
- Performs maintenance tasks as necessary including equipment repair, electrical, plumbing, snow removal, painting, etc.
- Works with hand tools (hammers, saws, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.).
- Lifting and moving a variety of equipment (beds, chairs, desks, filing cabinets and other equipment as needed).
Working Conditions:
Nursing home setting.
When required sometimes in confined spaces and at heights from a ladder. Dirt and dust are common in mechanical rooms requiring a mask at times. Working around machinery and electricity are potential hazards.
