This is an entry level position. Prior experience working with primary & secondary students in a school or transportation setting is preferred but not required. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required. The ability to read, write and speak fluently in the English language is required. The ability to interact professionally with students, parents, & school administration is required. Applicant must be comfortable with being legally responsible for students at the level of a parent. Applicant must pass a background check - fingerprints & check of the NYS Central Register for Child Abuse & Maltreatment, FBI & NYS Dept of Criminal Justice Services databases. Applicant must pass a pre-employment physical & drug screening - includes testing for marijuana. Monitors assists students to embark and disembark the school bus safely. Monitors assist special needs students requiring support throughout the bus ride. Monitors may assist & safely secure students using wheelchairs. Monitors install additional seating required for special needs students & secure students in the seating. This job is performed inside a school bus and requires heavy lifting at times. Applicants must pass a NYS Dept of Education Physical Performance Test of Agility & Fitness. Ability to quickly evacuate students in an emergency is mandatory. Hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30am-9:30am and 1:30pm-4:30pm. Weekly pay. Must join Union. Benefits include Health and Dental Insurance, Paid Vacation, Sick Leave, Holidays and Retirement Plan.
