SAIC Modeling and Simulation Engineer in Chantilly, Virginia
Description
SAIC is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Engineer with a strong background in ground architecture and government acquisitions to fill a critical position on SAIC’s Prime Program, Landmark AOS located in Chantilly, VA. Landmark AOS is a large SETA program that supports the NRO’s Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED), which is responsible for the acquisition of systems over the complete end-to-end life cycle. This will be a position supporting our customer’s Ground Enterprise Directorate in the Chief Architect office.
As the Modeling and Simulation Engineer you will support the Chief Architect's Systems and Digital Engineering Teams across the Chief Architect’s Office. You will also provide oversight and stewardship of DE technical standards to enable seamless integration of architecture.
Job duties to include:
Provide strategic assessment, resource gap analysis, and policies support.
Assist the coordination with organizations across the directorate to provide cost, schedule, standards, accreditation, technical, and performance assessments supporting the M&S strategy and future evolution and investment. Develop briefings and background papers to identify potential impacts and proposed courses of action.
Support executing oversight and stewardship of DE technical standards to enable seamless integration of architectures
Assist and support efforts to identify and prioritize Directorate gaps and needs. These efforts will provide information necessary to determine various aspects such as emerging/existing resource/availability/capability gaps, inefficiencies, and ineffectiveness of current efforts within Modeling and Simulation development.
Assist and support efforts in the development, integration, propagation, and enforcement of DE policies, guidance, rules, and standards.
Assist with facilitating the integration of best practices via access to M&S related knowledge and resources. Develop processes to identify, define, assess current/ emerging standards. Nominate, review, and provide recommendations on updates to the standards.
Support government lead with executing tasks such as development/ curation of DE standards profile, updates to DE standards policies
Develop and host DE training events and demonstrations to highlight best practices and use cases for when and how to apply standards
Collaboration and Agile Practices:
Work closely with System Program Office Thread Leads and program managers to ensure alignment and efficiency in acquisition strategy execution.
Participate in Agile development teams and provide technical direction for the implementation of engineering tools, processes, and digital solutions.
Provide feedback on GED policies related to Agile, Digital Engineering, and DevSecOps based on observations of implementation challenges to drive improvements in suitability of governance and increase consistency of adoption across GED.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience. Relevant experience to be substituted in lieu of degree.
8+ years of experience working in the area of modeling and simulation
Demonstrated ability to develop system behavior, structure, data, and requirements models employing leading modeling tools/applications in a team environment
Experience in systems engineering or digital engineering discipline
Experience working with DoDAF and/or other MBSE architecture guidelines
Demonstrated experience in resolving technical standards and interoperability issues
Experience with operations in either the air, space, or cyber domain.
Demonstrated ability to develop strategies to accomplish organizational initiatives.
Experience with coordination processes, policy development and strategic communications at a senior level.
Knowledge to plan, schedule, conduct and facilitate projects and studies to evaluate and recommend ways to improve the productivity of operations in a program or support setting.
Knowledge in adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness or organizational productivity.
Experience in preparing and presenting high level briefings, and technical reports.
