Koniag Government Services Intern - Proposal Editor in Chantilly, Virginia
Koniag Government Services is looking for an Editor Intern to support our Proposal team. This is a remote opportunity for the summer.
We are seeking an intern excited to apply their detail-oriented editing skillset in a professional setting to support our business-to-Government proposal writing process from initial information gathering to final edit and proofreading. At this growth-oriented company, you will collaborate across teams and seniority levels to capture subject matter information and expertise and turn compliant text into concise, compelling narrative. We will train you in the complete proposal writing process and familiarize you with industry-essential tools such as MS SharePoint, Visio, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Edit proposal content for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and solicitation and company writing conventions.
Distill solicitation requirements into opp-specific editorial guidance in our Wall of Truth template.
Assist in updating and editing proposal reuse content on a SharePoint-based database (will include instruction and guidance in metadata tagging, content design, SME interviews/data calls, etc.).
Assist lead staff writer in conducting and taking notes for SME and PM interviews for proposal responses.
Participate as a writer and/or editor in all stages of the proposal lifecycle.
Assist in drafting proposal content under direction of mentor and/or lead writer.
Support other teams and departments according to need and interest.
Requirements
Skilled line/copy editor
Detail-oriented with a desire to excel and learn real-world applications for writing and editing skills
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Skilled with MS Office (MS Word specifically). Additional knowledge of Grammarly, SharePoint, and MS Teams a plus but not required (will provide training as needed)
Working toward (or recently completed) English, Writing, or writing-intensive Humanities degree
Must be currently pursuing or recently completed English, Writing, or writing-intensive Humanities degree
MUST have 3-12 months of editing experience (e.g., at university writing center, formal or informal writing groups, freelance, etc.)
