Space Systems Integration Ground Integration Systems Engineer in Chantilly, Virginia

SSI is seeking a
Ground Integration Systems Engineer
to oversee integration of new mission segments into an existing operational system for satellite command and control. The role assesses impacts to legacy ground capabilities, guides transition and integration strategy, and advises on incremental test approaches to reduce risk and ensure readiness for enterprise-level test and operations.

Specific Duties Include:
- Lead systems engineering activities to integrate a new mission segment into an existing enterprise ground system supporting satellite command and control operations.
- Assess impacts of new segment capabilities on legacy ground architecture, including mission management, data routing, cybersecurity boundaries, message exchanges, and external interfaces.
- Develop and execute transition and integration strategies that minimize operational disruption and mitigate technical, schedule, and mission risk.
- Review, adjudicate, and influence Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Requirements Documents (IRDs), and message definitions to ensure clear, testable, and verifiable interface specifications.
- Define and recommend integration test strategies, including incremental interface validation prior to enterprise-level testing.
- Coordinate with segment developers, ground operators, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to ensure coherent integration across functional boundaries.
- Evaluate requirements traceability from mission objectives through ground system implementation to ensure alignment during transition.
- Identify cross-program dependencies and integration risks; develop mitigation plans and provide technical recommendations to leadership.
- Contribute to technical assessments during major reviews with emphasis on integration readiness and architectural consistency.
Required Qualifications:
- Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and CI polygraph (polygraph within the last ten (10) years)
- Bachelors degree in a STEM field and ten (10) or more years of experience; Masters degree and eight (8) or more years of experience
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in a Government/Contractor team environment
- Willingness to travel 10%
