Description
Accounting Manager – Hands-On Full Cycle Accounting & Process Automation (5 days/week in Chantilly)
Are you ready to own the numbers and modernize the financial backbone of a growing organization? We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Accounting Manager who thrives on full-cycle accounting and is eager to bring our books current while collaborating with the Controller and CFO on the implementation of systems to automate and enhance processes.
In this key role, you’ll:
Oversee all aspects of day-to-day accounting operations, including managing the integrity of the general ledger, account reconciliations, and swiftly resolving discrepancies.
Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes—completing journal entries, preparing Work in Progress schedules, and delivering accurate financial statements.
Manage core transactional functions, including Accounts Payable, Job Costing, and Check Processing, ensuring smooth and timely processing.
Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations.
Act as a finance business partner, keeping internal stakeholders informed of changes, corrections, and issues with financial data.
Support outside audit engagements and third-party information requests efficiently.
File Personal Property Tax and Sales Tax Returns across multiple states and jurisdictions.
Collaborate directly with the Controller and CFO, contributing to both everyday operations and strategic projects.
Continuously assess and improve our accounting processes and systems— championing automation and best practices to drive efficiency and accuracy.
Tackle special projects and support additional finance initiatives, as needed.
Requirements
What we’re looking for:
Bachelor’s degree (strongly preferred: Business, Accounting, or related field)
Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience, with a strong foundation in full-cycle accounting
Experience in taking books from backlog to fully up-to-date is a major plus
CPA strongly preferred
Deep knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and compliance
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Proactive, resourceful, and solutions-oriented approach
Aptitude for identifying opportunities to automate processes and streamline workflow
