Job Title: Project Manager – Mechanical Construction (Semiconductor/Data Center)
Job Description
This Project Manager role oversees complex semiconductor and data center projects in Arizona, providing full project lifecycle leadership from initial estimating through completion. The position is based in an Arizona office with regular travel to local project sites and focuses on delivering work safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will coordinate closely with field teams, executives, and key stakeholders while managing safety, schedule, budget, and client relationships on mission-critical mechanical and process piping projects.
Responsibilities
Ensure that each project strictly follows all applicable safety rules and regulations and actively promote a strong safety culture on every job site.
Meet with executive leadership, estimating, operations, and key stakeholders to define the scope of work and develop a comprehensive project work plan.
Organize and lead pre-planning meetings to align teams on project goals, risks, and execution strategies.
Develop and maintain a workable schedule for job cost control, including labor, material, and equipment planning.
Establish clear project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards and ensure adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
Review project progress with the executive management team at key milestones from inception through completion.
Conduct weekly meetings with field staff to review safety, schedule, coordination, and project issues.
Collaborate with the purchasing team on all equipment and material buyouts to support schedule and budget requirements.
Manage all financial aspects of the contract, including preparing quarterly cost-to-complete reports and providing accurate cost projections.
Develop a detailed project budget, broken down by system, floor or area, and task, to enable accurate weekly cost tracking, in close coordination with the project executive.
Create and maintain a schedule of values, working with the project executive, to maximize positive cash flow over the life of the project in accordance with contract terms.
Prepare and submit accurate monthly billings to the general contractor or owner.
Prepare and review monthly subcontractor billings to ensure accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
Negotiate pricing for change orders, expedite pricing and approvals, and secure timely issuance of change orders to support prompt billing.
Develop a comprehensive submittal log for each project and coordinate it with the purchasing department.
Work closely with the purchasing department to develop a detailed list of equipment and materials required for the project and assume joint responsibility for purchase orders, including terms and accuracy.
Ensure that all submittals, including shop drawings, are prepared and submitted as early as possible and within scheduled timeframes so that procurement does not impact the project schedule.
Represent the company in project meetings with customers, general contractors, owners, architects, engineers, and other subcontractors.
Assist in developing labor strategies and supporting labor negotiations for assigned projects.
Maintain strong, professional relationships with customers, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to support successful project delivery and future opportunities.
Proactively document pending issues and project risks and communicate them to appropriate leadership for timely resolution.
Assume the responsibilities of the project engineer when that role is not present, ensuring continuity in project documentation and coordination.
Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by corporate leadership to support project and company objectives.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3+ years of project management experience in mechanical construction with a focus on process piping and high purity systems (5+ years is ideal).
Experience supporting semiconductor or data center projects, or other mission-critical industrial environments.
Mechanical construction experience with a strong knowledge of process piping and mechanical systems.
Strong understanding of construction and engineering design concepts.
Extensive knowledge of construction costs, scheduling, estimating, and engineering principles.
Working knowledge of construction accounting systems and cost control practices.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting contract drawings and specifications.
Demonstrated management and leadership abilities with strong interpersonal skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to resolve conflicts and solve problems in a fast-paced project environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
Above-average computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to utilize scheduling, cost, and construction software tools such as Autodesk Build/ACC Build, Navisworks, Revit, and Bluebeam.
Physical ability to climb ladders and access or egress trenches, attic spaces, and confined spaces as required by project sites.
Valid driver’s license in good standing to support required travel between multiple project locations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
Experience in high purity piping systems within semiconductor, data center, or similar mission-critical facilities is highly beneficial.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term client and partner relationships.
Proven track record of managing budgets, schedules, and change orders on complex construction projects.
Experience working in an employee-owned or highly collaborative team environment is a plus.
Work Environment
The role is based in an Arizona office and involves regular local travel to active project sites. You will work a Monday through Friday schedule with a minimum of 40 hours per week, with additional time as needed to meet project demands. The work environment includes a combination of office-based planning, coordination, and financial management, as well as on-site presence in industrial and construction settings such as semiconductor and data center facilities. On site, you will navigate active construction areas, which may require climbing ladders and accessing trenches, attic spaces, and confined or elevated spaces while adhering to all site safety requirements and using appropriate personal protective equipment. The company provides a vehicle allowance and gas card to support travel between the office and project locations. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
