Mountain Pines Campground Lifeguard in Champion, Pennsylvania
Summary of Job
The Lifeguard is responsible for the overall safety of our guests by recognizing, preventing and responding to emergencies in the pool area. This includes evaluating equipment and water to ensure they are safe and useable.
It is critical that Lifeguards are calm and levelheaded at all times.
Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.
Seasonal work is described as temporary work that occurs around the same period each year. Generally, Lifeguards are needed May -- November.

Requirements
Lifeguard, First Aide, CPR and AED certification
Ability to pass a pre-employment practical skills test in the water and surveillance technique
The Lifeguard is required to maintain a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, weekends and holidays
This position requires staff to be alert and aware of surroundings at all time
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain constant surveillance of guests in the water at all times, access situations to recognize signs of danger
- Knows, understands and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic areas
- Enforce pool rules, regulations and policies to ensure the safety of guests
- Provide swift water rescue, administer first aid, CPR or other emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
- Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required
- Caution guests on unsafe situations and safety practices
- Ability to react quickly and effectively while remaining calm in emergency situations
- Responsible for the cleanliness of pool and surrounding areas
- Responsible for the safekeeping of emergency equipment such as rescue tubes, backboards, signs, personal packs, etc.
- Chlorine, pH testing of water and charting of water tests
- Record accidents on the Incident/Accident Report and submit daily
Uniform
Lifeguard bathing suit. Personal Lifeguard hip pack and Lifeguard t-shirts and sweatshirt will be supplied. If wearing shorts they must be lifeguard red in color. This applies to females as well.

Detailed Job Duties
Maintain a neat and clean pool waterfront area and water at all times
Rotate stations every 30 minutes to stay alert
Maintain constant surveillance of guests in and out of the water at all times, accessing situations to recognize signs of danger
Contact Park Manager for any water adjustments of pool chemistry to ensure proper operating conditions
Testing is done at opening and closing of shift
Double check all emergency and pool equipment with Pool Attendants (first aid kits, water test kits, backboards, etc.)
Double check all first aid kits weekly with Pool Attendants to ensure sufficient supply
Record all accidents on the Incident/Accident Report
Assist Pool Attendants (when inimal guest are in water) with cleaning pools throughout the day by skimming and sweeping bottom and side of pools and sweeping wadding area
Pool Attendants are in a supportive role to Life Guards. In all emergency situations they will support Life Guards by removing guests from pool, calling the office, retrieving any medical equipment that is needed, etc.
Acts professionally and responsibly when communicating with members, co-workers and the guests Consistently enforces all pool rules at all times with courtesy and fairness. Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with policies, procedures; completes related reports as required.

Emergency
- Radio office to call 911 and describe the medical situation
- Office will dial 911 and ask for Fayette County Dispatch, alert dispatcher of medical situation at Mountain Pines Campgground give your first and last name and our address of 1662 Indian Creek Valley Road, Champion
- Office will notify someone on first responder list if needed in the interium. First responder list is located on wall in large office by desk.
- If AED if needed locate AED location closest to person in distress. The closest AED is located at the pool
- Notify Manager
- Manager will notify other security staff and office to be on alert for emergency vehicle, the entry point at camp and location of emergency
- Security or other staff may need to clear or block roads particularily during holidays due to volume of traffic
- Manger or Security will escort ambulance to location
- Complete Incident/Accident Report immediately once situation is taken care of
Pool Rules
No glass inside the gated area of the pool
No white chairs in the outdoor pool
No standing on the mat
No diving in the indoor pool
No flips on mat -- feet or bottom must be on mat at all times
No floaties in the indoor pool
No running inside the gated area of the pool
No animals permitted inside the gated area of the pool
If a service animal the owner will have a card and/or vest for the animal
No horseplay permitted inside the gated area of the pool
No food or beverages (including bottled water) beyond the blue line
No standing on the red kiddie section railing
No smoking, vaping or pipes inside the gated area of the pool
No foul language permitted
No flips permitted in either pool
No swimming over ropes
No swimming under mat
No diving off of mat
No flips off of mat
No smacking pool noodles
No throwing balls in the indoor pool around babies
No public display of affection
No sitting or standing on the red railing in the kid section of the outdoor pool
If you notify someone of the same offence more than three times in one day they will lose their privilege to swim the remainder of the day.
