Job Title: Forklift Operator – Receiving Dock
Job Description
The Forklift Operator on the receiving dock safely unloads inbound shipments, accurately records inventory using RF scanning equipment, and transports materials from staging areas into warehouse storage using a variety of forklifts. This role plays a key part in efficient warehouse operations by ensuring products move quickly and accurately from trucks into the warehouse management system and designated storage locations.
Responsibilities
Operate sit-down forklifts to unload shipments from trucks at the receiving dock and safely stage materials for put-away.
Use stand-up reach trucks, preferably Crown brand equipment, to move skids from staging areas into warehouse storage locations.
Operate cherry picker forklifts (Yale, Crown) to access and place skids at various warehouse heights as needed.
Utilize RF scanning equipment to scan barcodes on wrapped skids and accurately enter received shipments into the warehouse management system.
Perform loading and unloading of trucks in a fast-paced receiving environment while maintaining safety and accuracy standards.
Verify received shipments against documentation and ensure products are staged in the correct areas for put-away.
Follow established warehouse procedures for receiving, staging, and put-away to support smooth distribution operations.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on the receiving dock and within warehouse aisles.
Conduct basic equipment checks before operating forklifts and promptly report any safety or maintenance issues.
Work collaboratively with warehouse and distribution team members across multiple shifts to meet operational goals.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of prior forklift experience required; 2 or more years of experience preferred.
Hands-on experience operating stand-up reach forklifts, preferably Crown brand equipment.
Experience operating both sit-down and stand-up forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment.
Proven experience loading and unloading trucks safely and efficiently.
Proficiency using RF scanning equipment to scan barcodes and record inventory transactions.
Ability to enter received shipments accurately into a warehouse management system.
Strong focus on safety while operating powered industrial trucks in busy dock and warehouse areas.
Ability to work effectively on a receiving dock with frequent movement in and out of trailers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience on a high-volume receiving dock or distribution center environment.
Background in shipping and receiving functions, including staging and put-away processes.
Comfort working across multiple forklift types, including reach trucks and cherry pickers.
Ability to adapt to different shifts and schedules based on operational needs.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate scanning, documentation, and inventory handling.
Reliability and a strong work ethic with the drive to grow into advanced roles over time.

Work Environment
The work takes place primarily on a busy receiving dock with approximately 23 bay doors where trucks are continuously jockeyed in for unloading. The dock area is not climate controlled, and employees frequently move in and out of trailers, so conditions can vary with the weather. Team members operate sit-down forklifts, stand-up reach trucks (including Crown equipment), and cherry picker forklifts (Yale, Crown), and regularly use RF scanners and a warehouse management system as part of daily tasks. Multiple shifts are available across receiving and distribution operations, including schedules such as 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m., an 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. third shift Sunday through Thursday, and 2-2-3 rotating shifts from 4:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.–4:00 a.m., as well as a 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. Monday–Friday second shift when available. The environment is fast-paced, safety-focused, and centered around efficient material handling on the dock and within the warehouse.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of CHAMBERSBURG, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.81 - $22.81/hr.
