John R. Bromiley Company Inc. CNC Lathe Setup Machinist in Chalfont, Pennsylvania

The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up repeat work and/or setting up new parts for multi-axis CNC lathes and/or Swiss CNC lathes. This position requires a solid understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, program offsets, and operate multi-axis CNC lathes to produce precision parts according to engineering specifications and blueprints.

  • Select, install, and align tooling, fixtures, and work holding devices.

  • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, GD&T specifications, and setup sheets.

  • Verify machine setups through trial runs and first-piece inspections.

  • Make necessary offsets, tool changes, and adjustments to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy.

  • Perform precision inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and other measuring tools.

  • Troubleshoot Machining or quality issues and recommend process improvements.

  • Collaborate with engineers and production team members to optimize programs and machining efficiency.

  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work environment; perform basic machine maintenance as required.

  • Accurately document production data, setup parameters, and inspection results.

  • Mentor machine operators and perform other duties as assigned in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.

  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Complete job-related training as directed by management.

    Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in CNC machining, with a focus on CNC lathe setup and operation.

  • Strong experience with multi-axis and live-tooling CNC lathes (e.g., Doosan).

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, G-code, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Solid understanding of cutting speeds, feeds, tooling, and materials (steel, aluminum, exotic alloys, etc.).

  • Experience in Lights Out manufacturing processes preferred.

  • Skilled in using precision measurement instruments and inspection methods.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple setups, and maintain tight production schedules.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and quality focus.

  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork mindset.

  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including but not limited to frequent standing and walking; frequent kneeling; bending; lifting or moving up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to understand prints and engineering drawings with knowledge of basic algebra, geometry/trigonometry concepts along with an understanding of geometric tolerancing.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for precision work.

  • Comfortable working in a production environment with machinery, lubricants, and metal materials.
