You read and interpret blueprints, ensure all work meets local electrical and building codes, and perform testing and troubleshooting to deliver safe, reliable installations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform rough-in electrical work on new residential homes and multi-family buildings, including layout, wiring, and panel work for ground-up construction.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and specifications to plan and execute electrical installations accurately.

  • Install, wire, and terminate fixtures, receptacles, switches, home runs, panels, and other electrical devices and components.

  • Pull wire and cable, bend and install conduit, and route circuits according to plans and code requirements.

  • Install, maintain, and repair both high voltage and low voltage electrical systems in new construction environments.

  • Conduct tests and inspections of electrical systems, circuits, and equipment to verify proper operation and compliance with applicable codes.

  • Troubleshoot electrical issues, identify root causes, and perform effective repairs in a variety of residential and multi-family work areas.

  • Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, and testing devices safely and efficiently during installation and repair work.

  • Prepare and organize job sites, including site prep, material handling, and general labor tasks related to electrical work.

  • Collaborate with a crew of up to four team members and a crew leader to complete projects on time and to quality standards.

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in confined spaces, at heights, and in physically demanding conditions.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools, equipment, and materials are used and stored properly.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as an electrician, with a focus on new construction and multi-family residential projects.

  • Proven experience with residential electrical work, including rough-in and finish work on new construction homes.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and construction drawings.

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and local building and electrical codes.

  • Hands-on experience installing, wiring, and terminating fixtures, receptacles, switches, panels, and home runs.

  • Proficiency in pulling wire and cable, conduit bending, and installing conduit in new construction environments.

  • Experience working with both high voltage and low voltage electrical systems.

  • Mechanical aptitude and solid troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving electrical issues.

  • Familiarity with electrical materials and tools, including conduits, circuit breakers, testing devices, and common hand tools.

  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a small crew.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Completion of an electrician apprenticeship program preferred.

  • Valid electrician’s license and any other required certifications.

  • Experience in both commercial and residential electrical work is a plus.

  • Comfort working on multi-family residential construction sites and adapting to varying project requirements.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to follow instructions from a crew leader and project supervisors.

  • Reliable transportation to travel to job sites in and around the Greater Philadelphia area, including locations up to approximately one hour from the shop.

  • Willingness to perform general labor and site-prep tasks related to electrical installation when needed.
