Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity Farmworker/Laborer - Obrero agricola in Central Lake, Michigan
18 farmworkers are needed to work in Antrim County, Michigan, handling fruits and vegetables including apples, apricots, asparagus, cherries, corn, cucumbers, gourds, nectarines, peaches, pears, pickles, plums, pumpkins, raspberries, strawberries, and squash. Workers will perform general farm labor and hand harvesting, including planting, thinning, pruning, training, tying, staking, and maintaining crops, as well as establishing orchards, installing and maintaining irrigation and trellis systems, and performing field and farm maintenance. Duties also include operating tractors, forklifts, and other farm equipment, cleaning and maintaining tools and containers, and grading, sorting, and packing produce to quality standards. Workers must have at least 2 months of verifiable hand-harvest experience, be able to work at a sustained pace, and lift and carry up to 70 lbs while performing physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
