The Precision Strike (PS) engineering organization is undergoing an exciting transformation to strengthen alignment with key business initiatives, optimize our capabilities, and capitalize on the growing demand for Precision Guidance & Sensing Solutions. This newly created Systems Engineering Director role is a critical part of this evolution, leading highly skilled systems engineering teams that support the Navigation & Sensor Systems (NSS) and Precision Guidance & Sensing Solutions (PGSS) product lines. Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Systems Engineering Director to lead all aspects of Systems Engineering performance within the business area. This highly visible, senior director-level position is responsible for applying systems engineering processes, talent acquisition, talent development, and ensuring program success. A key aspect of this role is serving as the Business Area Discipline Lead (BADL), responsible for the overall health and performance of the Systems Engineering discipline within PS. You will lead a large highly skilled organization through a transformation embracing model-based engineering and digital engineering aligning with the overarching BAE Systems Engineering organization's direction.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development: Lead and grow a best-in-class team of systems engineers, fostering engineering and operational excellence through best practices, agile methodologies, metrics, and continuous learning.
Strategic Alignment: Partner with other business area leaders to ensure alignment with business objectives and strategy.
Process Improvement: Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, meet cost reduction objectives, support execution, and promote agility.
Strategic Planning: Establish goals and standards of performance, create budgets, staffing plans, and develop short and long-term strategic roadmaps.
Performance Management: Administer performance, compensation, and recognition programs in alignment with business needs, company values, and budgets.
Technology Leadership: Understand industry trends and best practices to ensure BAE Systems develops and maintains technical differentiators. Provide technical leadership and champion the adoption of modern systems development technologies (MBSE, Cloud computing, etc.).
Project Support: Support proposal development, reviews, and project assessments. Monitor and influence product development throughout the lifecycle. Review and approve all tailoring of discipline-specific development plans to ensure they meet project scale and cost/schedule commitments.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's Degree in a related engineering field and 12 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Broad understanding of systems engineering
Proven performance management, mentoring, coaching and communication skills
Proven track record of increasing responsibilities in managing organizations of significant complexities, including managing development projects through all aspects of the systems engineering process from requirements through IV&V, production, and sustainment
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Proven ability to lead a dynamic organization across multiple sites.
Understanding of the DoW product development lifecycle.
Knowledge of and experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Proven ability to lead Agile, DevSecOps, and digital transformation initiatives.
Active Security Clearance.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $173023 - $294137
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
