Employment Horizons Tractor Operator in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey
Employment Horizons is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting people with barriers to employment in achieving their individual vocational objectives and establishing self-sufficiency in the community. Position Overview:We are seeking a Tractor Operator to join our Groundskeeping team and operate tractors and related equipment to support lawn care, grounds maintenance, and landscaping services. This position plays a key role in maintaining safe, clean, and attractive outdoor environments, working collaboratively with a diverse team that includes persons with disabilities. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM Key Responsibilities:Operate tractors and related equipment safely and efficiently for grounds maintenance and landscaping tasks.Perform mowing, plowing, hauling, and other tractor-assisted functions as assigned.Assist with general groundskeeping duties, including trimming, edging, and debris removal.Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety issues promptly.Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to ensure work meets quality standards.Support and model safe work practices for program participants when applicable.Maintain clean and orderly work areas. Experience operating tractors and related outdoor maintenance equipment.Knowledge of proper and safe use of groundskeeping and landscaping equipment.Ability to follow safety procedures and work independently with minimal supervision.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.Good verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Good physical stamina and work tolerance.Ability to work under stress and maintain an even temperament. Physical Demands & Work Environment:This position requires working outdoors in spring, summer, and fall weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Employees may need to use their hands for various tasks, including operating tools and managing materials. Tasks may frequently involve standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities this position requires include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees must also navigate uneven terrain while performing duties. Many tasks, such as mowing, trimming, and weeding, involve repetitive motions.
