DescriptionEmployment Horizons is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting people with barriers to employment in achieving their individual vocational objectives and establishing self-sufficiency in the community. Position Overview:We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Solid Waste Yard Supervisor to oversee daily operations at the Recycle Yard at Picatinny Arsenal. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured, outdoor work environment and takes pride in maintaining safety, organization, and compliance.The Solid Waste Yard Supervisor will manage site activity, coordinate with base contractors, monitor materials being disposed of, and ensure all contractual, environmental, and safety standards are met. This position requires strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with base personnel, contractors, and internal teams. Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Key Responsibilities:Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Recycle YardLog all site visitors, including vehicle details, license plate numbers, and tenant organization informationMaintain yard cleanliness and organization through direct housekeeping and contractor coordinationMonitor and direct proper waste disposal practicesIdentify and report improper or illegal waste materials, including hazardous itemsCoordinate with base operations contractors to ensure equipment support, maintenance, and yard upkeepMaintain daily visitor logs and submit required weekly reportsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, OSHA standards, and PPE requirementsReport unsafe or non-compliant situations promptly to appropriate personnelOperate and maintain assigned site equipment and utilities Benefits:Employment Horizons values its team and offers a competitive benefits package, including:Generous paid time off.Employer-paid medical coverage.Additional perks and benefits to support your personal and professional growth.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent1+ years of experience in site supervision, facility management, or a similar roleStrong verbal and written communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a teamValid driver’s license and reliable transportationAbility to safely lift and move up to 50 poundsFamiliarity with OSHA safety standards and PPE requirements Preferred Qualifications:Bilingual (English/Spanish)Experience in industrial, recycling, or waste management operationsExperience with contract compliance and reportingFamiliarity with government or military base environmentsBackground in logistics, environmental health and safety, or facility operations Physical Demands & Work Environment:The work environment is both indoor and outdoor. The position involves frequent movement, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Required to talk or hear in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to work independently, maintain attention to detail, and follow established cleaning procedures in a timely manner. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
