Overview
At Iron County Extension, we are seeking someone who is passionate about working with youth and committed to helping them develop the skills they need to thrive in the future. The Youth Service Learning (YSL) Coordinator plays a key role in the 4-H program by organizing, implementing, and supporting youth leadership initiatives, community engagement opportunities, and overall program operations.
This unique position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people in Iron County by guiding them through hands-on service learning experiences that encourage leadership, responsibility, and personal growth. The Youth Service Learning program is centered on empowering youth-helping them discover their strengths, build confidence, and grow into engaged, capable members of their communities.
Responsibilities
Coordinate YSL meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, communication, and follow-up.
Oversee YSL activities, including monthly city council activity reports, fundraising events, and community service projects.
Plan, coordinate, and support summer camps and other seasonal youth programs.
Support marketing and outreach efforts to promote youth activities and recruit new members.
Ensure compliance with organizational and county requirements.
Maintain accurate records, reporting, and budgets.
Attend monthly office meetings.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned or changed as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Basic budgeting and record keeping proficiency.
Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work site.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with youth, community programs, or volunteer coordination preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or special events as required.
Ability to work independently while supporting youth led initiatives.
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
