ABOUT THE CITY
Cañon City is proud of their rich heritage and many cultural and artistic venues. Located in the Southcentral portion of Colorado, it is a Home Rule Municipality and the county seat of Fremont County. It is a Council-Administrator form of government with the Administrator reporting directly to the City Council. Cañon City was founded in 1858 during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush and was originally intended as a commercial center for mining in South Park and the upper Arkansas River. With a city population of 16,725, Cañon City straddles the easterly flowing Arkansas River and is a popular tourist destination for whitewater rafting, sightseeing and rock climbing.
ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general supervision, performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor tasks and other duties as required within the Stormwater Section of the Public Works Department for the City of Cañon City.

We're looking for someone with a high school diploma or equivalent and
one (1) year of experience of public utility, maintenance, construction experience, or other closely related experience and two (2) years of experience in equipment operation and street maintenance. Candidates must have the ability to obtain a Colorado Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months from date of hire.
