Licensed Practical Nurse
- The LPN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of adolescent patients with medical and psychiatric illness, both acute and chronic.
- Key Position Requirements
- Able to demonstrate medical knowledge for full body and local assessments
- Administers physician prescribed medications and vaccines.
- Administers OTC medications per standing order
- Collaborate with other members of the medical team to maintain and order adequate inventory of medications and medical supplies.
- Respond to all medical emergencies, provide first aid, and medication treatment
- Collaborate with the RN to initiate Designate appropriate client referrals to the contracted physician(s) and other medical agencies or practitioners as needed. (Establishes LPN role in clinic, reporting hierarchy, and process)
- Acts as an agent of the facility to communicate with Coordinate with community service agencies to ensure routine and emergency medical care for clients and team members. (Rationale to ensure professionalism standard)
- Promote and educate good health habits, proper hygiene, and good nutrition with all clients. (Including education for individual and group education)
- Respond to all medical emergencies, provide first aid, and medication treatment
- Works "on-call" for 7 days at a time, on a rotating schedule, to provide emergency on-site assistance as needed. (To decrease the chance that this is thought to be only periodically or from home. On call is a scheduled responsibility based on the number of nurses on the schedule)
- Maintain all medical documentation, medical history, and files as required through regulations and facility requirements on each client while following HIPAA compliance rules and regulations. (This change is due to the many changes and extras we need to document with our EHR system)
- Actively participate in nursing related performance improvement activities.
- Teach and participate in health education classes for clients using medically developed approved curriculum addressing health topics, sexuality, hygiene, nutrition, and diet.
- Collaborates with the RN to develop medical portions of the individual treatment plan (The RN will be responsible for the treatment plan of each youth with collaboration from the LPN)
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings as needed. (Attendance if RN is not available to attend)
- Able to participate in training and demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques, and periodic recertification of these skills
- Attends and completes all mandatory training and meetings as scheduled, to include in person and electronically
- Maintain compliance with company exposure plan(s) to include OSHA, emergency, and blood borne pathogens.
- Functions to seek methods to improve patient care on an ongoing basis. Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory law as it relates to the care of the mentally ill patient. When the need arises, will perform other duties as assigned.

Hiring Requirements:
- Current licensure as an LPN in Colorado.
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must be able to pass physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
- Must pass criminal background check(s), including Child Abuse & Neglect Databases.
- Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
