Description
A growing, mid-sized service organization is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This role is heavily focused on balance sheet integrity, month-end close execution, and the development of accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable financial reporting. Month‑End Close & Accounting Operations
Assist with the coordination of the monthly close across departments, including close calendars, checklists, and daily status updates
Prepare recurring monthly journal entries and accruals
Prepare, analyze, and maintain balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, ensuring completeness and proper support
Work closely with the accounting team to maintain high standards of accuracy and timeliness for financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules
Revenue & WIP Accounting
Calculate and analyze percentage‑of‑completion (POC) revenue and direct cost adjustments on a monthly basis across multiple project types and locations
Identify and explain revenue and margin variances
Accounts Receivable
Prepare and reconcile A/R balances for month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end reporting
Analyze collectability and propose appropriate allowances for doubtful accounts
Accounts Payable & Expense Accounting
Provide guidance on proper expense classification, timing, and capitalization of expenditures
Assist in identifying unusual or non‑recurring items for management review
Financial Reviews & Analysis
Prepare schedules and documentation to support annual financial statement reviews
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives
Communicate financial insights and trends to department leadership
Process Improvement & Special Projects
Assist management with reviewing, documenting, and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal processes
Support ad‑hoc accounting and finance projects and cross‑functional initiatives
Perform ad‑hoc analysis of various accounts and assist with branch and departmental communications

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or related field with accounting concentration)
CPA and/or MBA preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong hands‑on experience with balance sheet reconciliations and month‑end close
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office proficiency
Experience with accounting systems and reporting tools (ERP experience required; Power BI a plus)
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Self‑starter with flexibility and strong organizational capabilities
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
Customer‑service oriented with a positive, professional approach
