THE POSITION

Under general supervision, relieves sworn police officers of non-hazardous police related duties in the field and office; related work as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of training and experience that provides the above listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way of qualifying would be:

  • Equivalent to graduation from high-school and;

  • Two years of experience which has included both substantial public contact and general office clerical work.

  • Must possess a valid California driver's license.

  • Must be willing to work rotating evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts.

  • Must pass a detailed background investigation.

SELECTION PROCESS

To be considered for this opportunity, candidate must submit an online application along with all required certifications listed in the Training and experience section. Based upon the information presented on the applications, a limited number of candidates who possess qualifications most pertinent to the position will be invited to participate in the selection process.

Tentative Dates:

Written Exam: Week of May 13

The written exam will be held in person at the City of Cathedral City - City Hall. Candidates passing the written examination will be invited to participate in an oral interview. The written exam is pass/fail.

Panel Interview - Week of May 20

The panel interview will be held online via Zoom. Candidates who are selected for the panel interview will be notified via email. Candidates who are successful in the panel interview will be placed on the eligibility list. The eligibility list will remain in effect for a period of six (6) months from the date of establishment..

Chief Interview - Week of May 27

A selected number of candidates on the eligibility list will be invited to the Chief's interview. All remaining candidates will remain on the eligibility list for possible future consideration.
