Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a General Production Worker in our wood shop. You will be placed in either the Steel Shop or the Wood Shop based on current needs, with potential roles as a Catcher, Builder, or another related position. The primary need is for Builders who assemble trusses, ensuring they meet quality standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble trusses by reading and following work order prints.

  • Set up jigs and tack plates accurately.

  • Use a tape measure to 1/16th of an inch and operate a hammer and staple gun.

  • Crawl on knees to tack boards when necessary, with knee pads provided.

  • Stand trusses upright in the yard and collaborate with forklift operators.

  • Work with saw operators to catch, stack, and label wood cut to measurements.

  • Check angles using a carpenter square.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to lift 50lbs.

  • Proficient in reading a tape measure.

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in labor, manufacturing, production, or construction.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in using various tools such as hammers and staple guns.

  • Forklift operation experience is a plus.

Work Environment

Work in a leading Midwest manufacturing company specializing in cold-formed steel trusses and wall panels. The environment can be hot in summer with open doors for ventilation and heated in winter. Dress code includes jeans, shorts, T-shirts, and steel-toed shoes. Employees must supply their own tape measure, while other safety gear is provided. Shifts vary, with the first and second shifts typically working 42 hours weekly, and the third shift 35 hours, but paid for 40. Occasional Saturday work may be required during busy periods.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of CASCADE, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.07 - $23.07/hr.
