Work Shift: 8:30am-5:30pm Monday - Friday.
The Target Pay for this position is $28.65 an hour. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
Job Purpose/Overview
The Lead Laboratory Technician oversees the day-to-day activities in an animal diagnostic reference laboratory performing laboratory analyses and tests. Supervises staff, assigns work and evaluates results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise day-to-day activities in the laboratory performing laboratory analyses and tests
Supervise staff, assignworkandmonitoractivities
Resolve escalated issues
Administer employment actions, provide coaching and guidance to staff and promote staff training and development
Provides input to department policies and procedures
Leads work activities of the lab planning and organizing work,providingadequate staffing andresourcesandmaintainingwork on schedule so that ongoing customer satisfaction ismaintained
Communicate with other related departments and laboratorysupervisorsand managers to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed.
Contribute to the maintenance of department diagnostic equipment and other technical resources
Coordinate with internal personnel, vendors and others as needed to resolve issues andmaintainongoing functionality
Train on all according to all Standard Operating Procedures
Oversee the entering and releasing of results
Oversee the building and packing of send outs to the main lab.
Train on workflow and production goals
Order andmaintainan appropriate levelof supplies
Review of Quality Control Protocols
Provide feedbackregardingstaff performance toleadership
Perform other duties asassigned

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
2- or 4-yeardegree insciencerelated field preferred or minimum of1-yearclinical laboratory experience
Prior leadership experience preferred

Personal computer skills, strong typing ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions
Stationary Position- must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours.
Constantlyoperatesa computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently.
Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
May berequiredto lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs.
Heavy microscopic work
The ability toobservedetails atcloserange.
Proficiencyin the English language which allows for participation in team meetings,accurateentry of data into company systems and understanding of written directions.
Extended hours may beneeded
Laboratoryenvironmentswith potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE.
Work underclose to moderatesupervision.
Potential forexposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards. A complete list of such chemicals is available from department supervision.
