Southwest Gas Corporation Storekeeper in Carson City, Nevada
Perform all phases of warehouse work; may direct and train assigned personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One year of working with materials used by a gas distribution/transmission utility is desirable.
Have knowledge of warehouse practices and procedures, including company stock classification catalogue, forms, equipment and shipping/receiving documents. Possess basic mathematics skills. General knowledge of computer and PC based applications.
TYPICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Advise and assist all personnel in correct identification of required material and recommend possible substitution for non-stocked items
Maintain periodic contact with local suppliers from whom purchases of direct items are made to ensure proper pricing and stocking of materials
Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet company specifications
Process purchase orders and other procurement documents according to applicable policies and procedure in an accurate and timely manner
Perform all phases of cycle counting in an accurate and timely manner
Utilize Wireless Data Terminals (WDT) while performing inventory transactions
Plan and perform housekeeping in the warehouse and surrounding areas
Coordinate inventory returns and recalls to the appropriate supplier, including effective communication, documentation and disposal procedures when applicable
May train assigned employees
Conduct physical inventories and cycle counting
Load and unload delivery trucks utilizing work equipment
Perform shipping/receiving activities with related forms and procedures
Operate forklift, handcart, dolly and other warehouse equipment and tools
Complete all required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
Perform all phases of receiving action as required by applicable policies and procedures to the point of processing purchase orders and/or purchasing documents
Assist with contractor material requirements
Maintain pipe inventory and associated supplies
Deliver material in the field to neighboring locations
Communicate/resolve low and out of stock inventory conditions
Process reclaimed inventory materials
Pull warehouse orders and stock general inventory supplies from bulk stock
Provide materials counter assistance
Operate MMIS system
Complete all paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
Set up and break down meetings, as required by division
Perform basic building maintenance functions, as required by division
Promote good internal/external customer relations
Perform other duties as assigned
Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Meet and maintain the strenuous physical requirements of the position.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and/or other special licenses/certifications.
Must be able to obtain and maintain materials shipping certification (Ship-mate Training).
Must be available to perform shift work, staggered workweek, including recognized holidays.
Must be available to work overtime.
Must be able to wear a complete company-issued uniform.
Must be able to wear and use all personal protective safety equipment as operating conditions
dictate.
Must be able to work in another location, district, or department.
Must be able to work outdoors, exposed to extremes in temperatures and conditions.
May be exposed to natural gas during the course of work.
Must successfully complete all aspects of required training.
Must comply with company rules of general conduct, company policies and procedures.
Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
SALARY DETAILS
$27.93 - $37.78
