Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our team, specializing in the analysis, design, development, debugging, and modification of embedded control software for electronics applications. This role involves working on controllers, PFC-based 3-phase Active Rectifiers, Motor Control, DC-DC Convertors, and AC Drives, specifically designed for harsh and hazardous environments within the commercial aerospace and aviation sectors.
Responsibilities
Design and implement advanced control algorithms for power electronic applications.
Develop control system software requirements to write embedded code for 3-phase Active Rectifier and Motor Control electronics.
Contribute to system design and independently develop subsystem designs that meet the requirements.
Test and debug power electronics controllers at the source and assembly level.
Optimize software performance by collaborating with control system engineers.
Work with suppliers to review control software design.
Lead or support software design review activities and interface with vendors, customers, and other departments on technical issues.
Independently own or lead a team for small to medium size software development projects.
Review, check, and approve work done by peers and lower-level engineers.
Provide guidance and training to lower-level engineers.
Assess standard work and support or lead improvement projects.
Analyze customer requirements and validate them through analysis, modeling, prototyping, or based on existing product performance.
Create software requirements specification and hardware/software interface control documents.
Create verification plans for validating product compliance to requirements.
Interface independently with technical analysts to define the software design.
Interface independently with existing and/or new suppliers and OEMs.
Create design tools to help define product design, capture lessons learned, and improve rotating equipment development processes.
Create software design documents that cover design analysis, notes, and specific guidelines followed.
Create design verification test procedures (DVTP) and reports (DVTR).
Perform product performance testing and analysis to ensure that requirements are met and generate test reports.
Independently find or create solutions to problems requiring research, resourcefulness, and creativity.
Support feasibility, development, validation, verification, and qualification testing both internally and at external test laboratories.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from a recognized ABET accredited institution or equivalent.
5+ years of software design experience in the aerospace industry with RTCA/DO-178B.
Hands-on programming skills in languages such as C/C++, VHDL/Verilog, and/or scripting languages like Perl/Python or PowerShell.
Knowledge of embedded systems architecture and programming.
Experience developing firmware on TMS320 DSP, P, X or DSPs/Microcontrollers.
Hands-on experience using electronics equipment such as programmable power supplies, high-speed digital oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
Design and develop instrumentation capabilities for product electrical parameter characterization and validation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Design level understanding of communication protocols such as CAN, ARINC, SPI, RS-232.
Experience in aerospace regulations such as RTCA/DO-160/D0-178 and RTCA/DO-254 guidelines.
Knowledge of major aerospace OEM electronics design guidelines.
Experience using design/simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.

The engineer will work in a setting that supports improvement activities at a group or company level, with access to advanced technology and equipment. The role may involve interfacing with suppliers, OEMs, vendors, customers, and different departments to address technical issues and meet project requirements.

This is a Contract position based out of Carson, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
