Overview

Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Ventilation Systems Manager and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and organizational excellence in support of ventilation engineering deliverables through example and mentorship. The candidate will manage Cognizant System Engineers and System Engineers for Safety Significant and Balance of Plant systems that will be reporting to this position. Responsibilities include providing daily assignments, configuration management, and support for planning, design reviews, procurements, installation, start-up, operations, and maintenance of new/modified site ventilation systems. The job responsibilities include developing and maintaining close working relationships with Projects, Quality Assurance, Planning/Analysis, Procurement, Radiation Control, Operations, Safety, and subcontractor personnel. Strong interpersonal skills (e.g. conflict resolution, team building, coaching) will be applied in executing engineering tasks, and in defining and understanding roles, responsibilities, authority, and accountabilities of project team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related discipline is required.

  • Must have five (5) years of Engineering experience and must have two (2) years of Mine Ventilation experience within functional activities including system engineering design or construction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of equipment reliability (SIL), ANSI N509/510, Commercial Grade Dedication, Experience with Safety Significant Ventilation Systems, Mine Ventilation Experience.

  • Understanding of the application of MSHA 30CFRS7, ASME NQA-1, ASME AG-1

  • Engineering knowledge of relationships between decision requirements, documentation, and plant configuration is desired.

  • Previous WIPP Project and management experience is a plus.

Exempt grade level(s) 34-36. Salary range: $114,912 to $201,044 per year -- the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
