Overview
Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.
Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Operations Support Specialist and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the Operations organization’s continuous improvement of Operations, ISMS, and mission execution. Support implementing and maintaining a program that ensures that essential elements used to protect WIPP interests meet established requirements for reliability, operability, readiness, and performance prior to and during operational use. The successful candidate will assist with overall business support areas for the Centralized Procurement Program (CPP).

Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
Wide range of computer skills to include implementation of requirements.
Ability to identify/solve issues or problems based on experience, professional concepts, and organizational objectives.
Ability to deliver clear and concise communications to employees and managers of all levels.
Work in a configuration management environment.
Job Duties:
Prepare purchase requisitions to submit to suppliers; identify applicable commodity fabrication specifications/design drawings, acceptance requirements, and customer requirements.
Conduct reviews of Purchase Orders to ensure applicable information is incorporated to flow down requirements.
Support the competitive bid process by generating statements of work.
Maintain the CPP web page.
Plan, perform and/or assist in audits or assessments as needed to support the Operations organization.
Identify risk-significant/important issues upon which to act.
Identify issues needing further analysis and intervention.
Identify and resolve cross-organizational performance issues.
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, or
Associate’s degree with four (4) years of related experience, or
High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of related experience is required.
Must have demonstrated experience coordinating, tracking, and record keeping.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
Must be familiar with procedural compliance, and be familiar with Operations processes, systems and programs.
Must have audit/surveillance and report writing experience.
Demonstrated proficiency with standard business software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, etc.) is required.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements
Candidates with Nuclear or high-hazard facility experience are preferred.
Preference given to candidates with experience/proficiency with assessment programs/methodologies including planning and performing assessments.
Familiarity with DOE Directives, Standards, and Guides.
Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Exempt grade level(s) 28-30. Salary range: $69,444 to $120,913 per year --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
