Overview
Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.
Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Emergency Preparedness Specialist and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain the Emergency Management (EM) plans, procedures, policies to comply with DOE Orders, Code of Federal Regulations and internal WIPP requirements.
Develop, maintain, and facilitate EM training as an EM Subject Matter Instructor.
Develop and conduct EM drills, workshops and seminars, including preparation of associated after action reports.
Maintain the operational readiness of the WIPP Emergency Operations Center and the Emergency Response Organization personnel (e.g., Emergency Operations Center, Joint Information Center).
Perform Management Self-Assessments on the EM program.
Interface with offsite response authorities and organizations.
Assist on WIPP Continuity of Operations Program implementation and training.
Assist in the development of Corrective Action Plans for issues identified in internal and external assessments and annual site exercises.
Assist Mine Rescue Team Coordinator in the development of training for Mine Rescue Team.
Serve as a member of the WIPP Emergency Operations Center.
Personal safety and the safety of coworkers.
Other duties as assigned by EM manager.
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with six (6) years of experience, or
Associate’s degree with ten (10) years of experience, or
High School Diploma or Equivalency with fourteen (14) years of experience is required.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements
Experience in a regulated environment such as DOE, NRC, or military is preferred.
Previous WIPP site experience is a plus.

Exempt grade level(s) 32-34. Salary range: $96,789 to $172,368 per year --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
