Opening in 2026, The Cape Town EDITION will introduce contemporary luxury lifestyle hospitality to the iconic V&A Waterfront. Located on Quay 7, the hotel will feature 142 guestrooms, including six serviced apartments, and will operate under an international management agreement.
Developed through the partnership between Marriott International and legendary hotelier Ian Schrager , EDITION Hotels are defined by refined design, deeply personalised service, and vibrant social energy—each property reflecting the culture and creative spirit of its destination.

Role Overview
The Director of Sales / Senior Sales Manager leads the day‑to‑day sales function at The Cape Town EDITION, with a focus on driving revenue performance and building long‑term, value‑based customer relationships.
This role is responsible for executing the property’s sales strategy, achieving personal and team booking goals, and partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the hotel meets its commercial objectives across rooms, meetings, and events.
Key Responsibilities Sales Strategy & Execution
Partner with the commercial leadership team to understand and implement the property’s sales strategy
Develop and execute segment‑specific sales plans aligned with revenue, market, and customer objectives
Support the development and execution of internal and external sales promotions
Collaborate with on‑ and off‑property sales channels to ensure aligned, complementary sales efforts
Revenue Generation & Performance
Drive revenue performance by setting the standard through personal booking goals
Recommend and monitor booking goals for direct reports
Analyse market trends and sales data to identify opportunities and adjust strategies
Support Revenue Management with accurate forecasting and six‑period projections
Sales Operations & Account Management
Oversee day‑to‑day sales activities and performance of direct reports
Participate in sales calls to acquire new business and close key accounts
Approve space release for catering, where applicable, to maximise revenue
Ensure operational execution of booked business, including proposals, contracts, and customer correspondence
Customer Experience & Service Excellence
Lead by example in delivering exceptional guest hospitality and service standards
Engage with customers before, during, and after events to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction
Ensure delivery against contractual commitments and brand standards
Empower and coach the sales team to deliver personalised, anticipatory service
Embed guest satisfaction and continuous improvement into team engagement and meetings
Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
Attend client events, trade shows, and sales missions to strengthen market presence and relationships
Collaborate with departments including Human Resources, Engineering, and Loss Prevention to support operational and regulatory requirements
People Leadership & Development
Interview, hire, and onboard sales talent aligned with business needs and brand culture
Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management
Utilise available training tools to support professional development and service excellence
Candidate Profile
Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Experience in hotel sales or a related commercial role, preferably within a luxury or lifestyle hospitality environment
Proven ability to drive revenue, manage client relationships, and lead high‑performing teams
Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills
