Description GAI is seeking a Transmission Engineering Manager 1 to join our Power Delivery team in the role of Program Engineering Manager. This position will report to the Transmission Line Group Manager in our Power Delivery Engineering Business Sector in GAI's Power Business Unit. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, team-focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real life problems. Qualified candidates are eligible for remote work. This position combines technical leadership in transmission line design with advisory responsibilities to support a program through all phases of project development and execution. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-voltage transmission line engineering and design, and strong problem-solving skills. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills. This position will work collaboratively with the Manager of Project Management for this program. The Transmission Engineering Manager 1 will have 12+ reports and be responsible for $5,000,000+ annual revenue. Competency Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design. Knowledge of project management skills and uses of intermediate practices to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy. May serve as PM Coach to Task Managers and other PMs. Job Responsibilities: Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include: Preparation of Specification Packages Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower Design and Analysis of foundations. Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications. Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations. Coordination and development of permits for Railroads, Roadways, and Environmental Crossings. Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects. Must demonstrate attention to detail. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Perform complex tasks typically following established processes. Implements effective engineering methods, provides technical guidance, and acts as a resource for engineers and designers. Directly manages projects with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed. Coordinates and develops proposed scope, schedule, and fee for projects managed. Assist in quality control and quality assurance of active projects, providing peer and final reviews and training of engineers and designers in quality control processes. Establish and refine engineering processes and standard operating procedures that enhance team performance, alignment, and delivery predictability. General Characteristics Applies thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of engineering related to the variety of aspects affecting their organization. Applies progressively acquired expertise to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions. Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting their practice and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis of projects. Analyzes ethical dilemmas to determine appropriate courses of action. Minimum Years of Experience 12+ Years of Experience Education B.S. or M.S.
