Cleveland Clinic's School of Pharmacy Technology offers one of the few accredited, hospital-based Pharmacy Technician programs in the United States. As a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will train under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, following established policies and procedures to support essential pharmacy operations. Through an intensive 16-18-week accelerated apprenticeship, you'll gain hands-on experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, developing skills in medication preparation, packaging, distribution, inventory control, customer service, and recordkeeping. Upon completion, graduates earn a diploma in Pharmacy Technology and are fully prepared to take the national certification exam.

 

A caregiver in this role works Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in an 16-18-week program. This role pays a flat rate of $17 per hour.

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:   

  • Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding).   
  • Deliver medications to appropriate storage locations.  
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies.  
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.  
  • Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner.   
  • Attend and actively participate in team huddles and meetings.   
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.  
  • Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program per the student handbook.
