Job Title: Quality Specialist
Location: Chatsworth, CA
Pay Range: $33./hr. - $35/hr.
The Quality Specialist Inspector is responsible for ensuring product and process compliance across the supply chain, with a focus on system-level quality, customer satisfaction, and supplier performance . This role performs advanced inspections, supports internal and external audits, manages customer and supplier quality issues, and leads root cause and corrective action activities.
Unlike a Final Inspector, this position is external-facing and compliance-driven , requiring strong audit capability, advanced inspection expertise, and a working knowledge of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, ISO 9001, SAE, and AS9102 .
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Supplier Quality Management
Support customer and supplier audits; prepare documentation, respond to findings, and track corrective actions
Manage daily customer quality issues and claims through customer portals; drive resolution within required timelines (including 48-hour responses when applicable)
Investigate and resolve customer rejections, waivers, DPPM issues, and returned materials (RMAs)
Interpret customer quality requirements, specifications, and flow-downs; communicate requirements to internal teams
Collaborate with suppliers and customers to resolve nonconforming product and initiate corrective actions
Quarantine nonconforming materials; ensure containment, disposition, and proper documentation
Track and report monthly customer quality ratings and performance metrics
Disposition final rejections and customer returns
Develop, maintain, and update customer-specific quality procedures
Support continuous improvement initiatives across internal processes
Advanced Inspection, Investigation & Documentation
Perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements
Provide technical support to inspection teams on complex specifications, drawings, and quality requirements
Perform hands-on inspection using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, etc.)
Lead or support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) implementation
Process and close internal quality notifications and customer quality claims
Generate, analyze, and report quality metrics (rejection rates, DPPM, audit results)
Review quality notifications and support product disposition decisions
Assist with final inspection activities as needed
Qualifications
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
Experience
2–5 years of direct aerospace fastener experience
Minimum 5 years of progressive quality inspection experience in aerospace, medical device, or industrial manufacturing
At least 2 years of experience in quality inspections, auditing, and testing
Proven experience conducting or supporting customer and supplier audits
Hands-on experience implementing corrective action and continuous improvement programs
Technical Skills
Expert-level GD&T and blueprint interpretation skills
Strong knowledge of quality documentation, specifications, and audit requirements
Proficient with ERP systems (e.g., SAP), QMS platforms, and Microsoft Excel; Power BI experience preferred
Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, SAE standards , and customer-specific compliance requirements
Advanced computer literacy and strong analytical skills
