Merlin Mold and Manufacturing inc Machine Operator in Canastota, New York

Merlin Mold and Manufacturing Inc is seeking a Machine Operator to work at their Canastota facility. A machine operator at Merlin Mold & Manufacturing, Inc., will spend their day operating a plastic injection molding machine. This will include monitoring machine made products, ensuring each part meets quality standards and properly handling each part according to its individual process, which may contain gauging, trimming, and more. A Machine Operator at Merlin is monitored and responsible for meeting quoted cycle times, understanding quality alerts, and executing proper documentation throughout and at the end of each day.

Job Specifications/Minimum Qualifications: 1.Is 18 years of age or older 2.Has a high school diploma or equivalent 3.Can compute sums using basic math skills including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, etc., 4.Has the ability to sit, stand, bend, twist, and/or reach for extended periods of time. (With or without reasonable accommodations.) 5.Has the ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. (With or without reasonable accommodation.) 6.Has full manual dexterity to execute secondary operations such as trimming, gauging, etc. 7.Can communicate clearly and effectively using verbal and written methods of communication. 8.Can comprehend written instructions. (With or without reasonable accommodation.

Primary Job Duties 1.Operates plastic injection machines according to job specific instructions daily 2.Clearly documents start up scrap, production scrap, down time, etc., daily 3.Performs secondary work/assemblies such as gauging, trimming, inserting, etc. 4.Visually inspects product for defects during operation to prevent scrap, downtime, etc. 5.Performs basic housekeeping such as sweeping around area, vacuuming up trimmings, etc. 6.Packages and properly labels products according to work instructions.

Job Competencies Expected: 1.Ability to operate and monitor production machinery 2.Ability to follow detailed work instructions 3.Ability to identify abnormal machine behavior and escalate issues 4.Ability to adapt to learn new machines or processes 5.Understanding of quality standards and specifications 6.Accurate completion of production records 7.Ability to recognize nonconforming parts and follow proper containment procedures 8.Adherence to OSHA and Company safety procedures 9.Accurate labeling, packaging, and documentation 10.Ability to meet production targets and cycle times while maintaining product quality 11.Properly escalating problems to appropriate supervisors or technicians 12.Clear and respectful communication with supervisors, technicians, and quality staff. 13.Flexibility to move between workstations when needed

This is a full-time position and may require overtime to meet production demands.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
