Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the Modified Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of DoD. Responsibilities You will be responsible for the management, installation, maintenance, and trouble resolution of all infrastructure supporting voice, video, and data networks operated at the command. You will be responsible for recommending cable assignments and notifying leadership of areas where cable resources are limited. You will be responsible for managing complex Information Technology projects, clarifying customer requirements, and developing project documents. You will submit new circuit orders, verify available funding, and deactivate obsolete circuits. You will perform site surveys and develop cost estimates for infrastructure builds and associates updates to the cable management documentation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of Specialized Experience may include some of the following: 1) Performing operational system configuration audits, identifying discrepancies, modifying and documenting system drawings accordingly; 2) Reviewing and editing system documentation; 3) Coordinating with the Cable TV provider to ensure that services are provided and issues are resolved in a timely manner; 4) Assisting in troubleshooting circuit outages and 5) Overseeing system upgrades and contract modifications. Education There is no substitution for education at this grade level. Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.64% will be added to the stated salary. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
