SENIOR ARCHITECT AND TECHNICAL LEAD - OPEN PORTABLE INTEGRATIONS FOR AGENTIC RESEARCH COMPUTING, MA Green High Performance Computing Ctr, to serve as the technical lead and senior architect for an innovative, agentic AI for research, on-premise and cloud unification activity; lead an initiative that aims to provide a unified, general-use environment to deliver a cost-effective and researcher-centric computing experience; draw together existing container-centric cyberinfrastructure tooling to create a seamless user experience across both on-premise and commercial cloud environments; and collaborate and guide a team of staff to develop core portability tools, identify key technical opportunities, and drive engagement success.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience in technical fields and/or computational research, including at least four years of experience directly leading or supervising a team; experience in research institutes or equivalent and in-depth knowledge of scientific software, and tuning algorithms in high performance computing; an understanding of large-scale advanced research computing environments; enterprise software engineering experience with expertise in software management, code and version controls and cloud-native environments; familiarity with high-performance computing trends and technologies; knowledge of HPC parallel and highly performant clustered or distributed file systems architectures and their effective use and deployment for storage and management of research data lifecycles; demonstrated skills in leading a high performing team with a customer services-oriented mindset approach; experience applying AI and/or Bayesian methods within a research context; and proven track record of successfully working with and leading mixed teams (contractors, employees, academics) to deliver new technical integrations. PREFERRED: Direct experience with open-source schedulers and provisioners: Slurm, Flux, Armada, Slinky, Soperator, or OpenTofu; experience with Linux container technologies such as LXC, apptainer and systemd-nspawn; or advanced degree in a relevant technical field.

Term Duration: 2 year position

The Senior Architect and Technical Lead must comply with all relevant MGHPCC security policies.
