Your role and responsibilities
As a Creative Developer Intern at IBM Research, you’ll work at the intersection of design and engineering, helping prototype and build interactive experiences that communicate complex ideas in computing, science, and technology. You’ll be part of the IBM Research Creative Team, collaborating with designers, researchers, and engineers to translate concepts in quantum computing, AI, and semiconductors into compelling, interactive digital experiences.
Responsibilities:
Develop interactive prototypes, experiments, and visualizations for web and experiential projects
Collaborate closely with visual designers to bring motion, interaction, and storytelling to life
Support the implementation of creative concepts using modern web technologies
Experiment with emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to explore new forms of interaction.
Required technical and professional expertise
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Quantum Physics, Quantum computing, Creative Technology, Interactive Media, or a related field
Working knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Experience with at least one modern framework or creative coding library (e.g., React, Three.js, D3, p5.js, GSAP)
Strong interest in the intersection of design, technology, and storytelling
Passionate about quantum computing, AI, and semiconductor technology
Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate technical ideas clearly
Preferred technical and professional experience
Nice to have: Experience with communicating Quantum physics or quantum computing concepts.
Experience with data visualization, WebGL, or generative graphics
Familiarity with motion, animation, or interaction design principles
Comfort working with ambiguity and early-stage concepts
