Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Description
The Machine Operator sets up and operates bandsaws to cut bar, tubing, metal plates, and extrusions, and supports the machining team by deburring parts, staging materials, and monitoring raw material inventory. This role plays a key part in maintaining smooth production flow and consistent product quality in a small, aerospace-focused machine shop environment.
Responsibilities
Operate vertical and horizontal bandsaws to cut bar, tubing, metal plates, and extrusions according to specified measurements and production requirements.
Set up bandsaw equipment, including adjusting settings and verifying correct tooling and material placement before cutting.
Deburr rough edges of cut parts and in-process parts using grinding equipment to ensure smooth finishes and safe handling.
Inspect cut and deburred parts using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and quality meet required specifications.
Stage materials for machinists by organizing and preparing raw materials and cut stock for upcoming production runs.
Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and notify leadership of low stock or upcoming material needs to avoid production delays.
Identify and communicate material shortages, quality issues, and equipment concerns to leadership in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain a clean and organized work area around the bandsaws, grinding equipment, and material staging zones.
Follow established safety procedures and shop protocols while operating machinery and handling materials.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience operating bandsaws, including both vertical and horizontal configurations.
Ability to cut bar, tubing, metal plates, and extrusions accurately according to specifications.
Proficiency in deburring parts using grinding equipment to remove sharp edges and imperfections.
Experience staging and organizing materials to support machinists and production schedules.
Ability to monitor and maintain adequate inventory levels of raw materials for upcoming production.
Strong communication skills to report shortages, quality issues, and equipment concerns to leadership.
Basic precision measuring skills to verify part dimensions and quality.
Ability to perform basic machine setup tasks for cutting operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience operating a CNC bandsaw.
Using grinding equipment in a production or machine shop environment.
Familiarity with quality standards and inspection practices in a machining setting.
Experience working in or around aerospace-related manufacturing is beneficial.

Work Environment
The role is based in a small machine shop environment within a resource center that supports the aerospace industry. You will work around bandsaws (including CNC bandsaws), grinding equipment, and other standard shop tools and materials. The setting is production-focused, with an emphasis on precision, safety, and cleanliness. You will spend most of your time on the shop floor, handling metal materials, operating machinery, and staging parts for machining in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Camas, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
