Special Education Teacher – $55/hr – Calumet City, IL – 39-Week Assignment
Position Overview:
The Special Education Teacher provides services to students in kindergarten through grade 12 under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator. This educator participates in planning and implementing student programs, delivers specialized instruction, offers tutorial assistance, and collaborates with general education staff to ensure academic and behavioral success.
Assignment Details:
Location: Calumet City, IL
Start Date: February 9, 2026
Duration: 39 weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Hours: 32.5 hours per week (8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., unpaid 30-minute lunch)
Pay Rate: $55/hour (local)
Modality: In-person

LBS1 certification required
Virtual interview with program leadership
Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction in resource or self-contained settings
Support academic and behavioral needs for assigned caseload
Collaborate with paraprofessionals, teachers, and support teams
Implement individualized instructional plans and accommodations
Maintain documentation in accordance with professional standards
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Valid state teaching certificate as required
Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred
Teaching experience preferred
CPR certification if applicable
TB screening and health certificate as required
Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
