Veterinary Technician, RVT

The Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency (C.A.R.E.) Centre is currently welcoming a full-time Surgery, Anesthesia Registered Veterinary Technologist to join our surgery service.
The successful candidate will possess:
Excellent interpersonal skills and compassion for the needs of their clients.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work efficiently on your own and with a team.
This position involves providing anesthesia for our board-certified surgeons. Being assigned daily to the surgeon who is operating, alternating procedures with another surgery technician.
Anesthesia with a ventilator and epidurals are common practice and are performed almost daily.
Experience with anesthesia is required. VTS-certified technicians wanting to work towards their VTS in anesthesia are welcome to apply.
Applicants must be registered with AHT and be eligible for registration with AAAHT in Alberta.
Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to): client communication, booking consultations/rechecks and procedures, starting appointments, taking radiographs pre and post-operative, collecting and submitting blood and other lab samples, assisting in CT scans, and maintaining timely and accurate patient records.
Schedule: The schedule for this position is Monday to Thursday from 7 am - 6 pm or Tuesday - Friday 7 am - 6 pm or Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. Additional after-hours anesthesia requirements are mandatory once trained.
