Job Description
Join a high-volume LTL freight cross dock operation in Calgary, where you will operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift, load and unload trailers, and handle freight efficiently and safely in a fast-paced environment. Move pallets and freight as required to support cross dock operations and maintain an organized dock.
Handle bills of lading, waybills, and related shipping and receiving paperwork accurately during the shift.
Assist team members with unloading paperwork and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
Support general yard duties, including helping clean up the yard and dock areas as needed.
Participate in cleaning tasks each shift to keep the dock clean, clear of debris, and safe for all team members.
Adapt to changing priorities and switch between forklift operation, swamping, paperwork, and manual material handling as required.
Work collaboratively with a team of dockworkers and forklift operators to meet daily freight handling and shipping timelines.

At least 1 year of experience loading and unloading trailers using a forklift in a transportation, warehouse, distribution, 3PL, or LTL environment.
Proven experience working in cross dock, LTL, shipping, and receiving, or freight-handling operations.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
Valid forklift ticket (in-house or private; if expired or not available, eligibility to complete company-approved ticketing prior to starting).

Demonstrated leadership experience or the ability to take initiative on the dock is an asset.
Possession of a safety vest, or willingness to obtain one, is strongly recommended.
Why Work Here?
You will join a stable operation that offers clear opportunities for growth and long-term career development, including structured annual wage increases and performance bonuses. The benefits package is comprehensive, with 100% coverage for medical and vision, strong dental coverage, travel insurance, and generous support for psychological services, physiotherapy, and massage. A matching pension program supports your long-term financial security, with increased matching at higher earnings levels. You can also benefit from regular overtime opportunities, annual boot allowance, and an engaging culture that includes BBQ events and a formal employee recognition program where you can earn points toward cash and merchandise. The environment rewards hard work, reliability, and teamwork, and provides a path to grow your skills and responsibilities over time.
Work Environment
The role is based in a very fast-paced LTL freight cross dock handling courier shipments and pallets destined for retail stores. Freight arrives from distributors, is unloaded, sorted, and reloaded for outbound delivery in a compact dock area with limited space and constant movement. The shift runs Monday to Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with frequent overtime opportunities. The dock environment can be very cold, so outdoor-appropriate clothing such as jackets and sweatshirts is necessary, and a safety vest is strongly recommended. Work involves frequent movement in and out of dock doors, operating forklifts in tight spaces, and performing a mix of equipment operation, manual material handling, paperwork, and swamping duties in close coordination with the rest of the team.
