SUMMARY –The Engineering Quality Supervisor reports to the VP of Operations and plays a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining a robust quality management system (QMS) for the organization. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, this position is critical to driving product quality, process improvements, and adherence to industry standards. The Engineering Quality Supervisor will oversee all quality-related initiatives, ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements, and mentor a Quality Technician in the execution of daily tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation:
Lead the design, development, and implementation of a comprehensive QMS tailored to the company's manufacturing processes and needs.
Develop and document quality policies, procedures, and work instructions in alignment with ISO 9001 or other relevant standards.
Conduct regular QMS audits to ensure system integrity and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Process Controls
Establish and maintain effective process controls to optimize production efficiency and reduce variability
Implement statistical process control (SPC) techniques to monitor and control manufacturing processes
Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Supplier Quality Management:
Collaborate with suppliers to define quality standards and establish incoming inspection criteria.
Evaluate and audit suppliers to ensure compliance with the company's quality expectations.
Scrap and Inventory Maintenance
Monitor and manage scrap and inventory levels to minimize waste and cost
Collaborate with production teams to identify root causes of scrap and develop solutions
Implement inventory management best practices to ensure optimal stock levels
Quality and System Audits
Conduct regular internal and external quality audits
Collaborate with external auditors to ensure compliance with industry standards
Identify areas for improvement and drive corrective actions
Leadership
Supervise and mentor the Quality Technician, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure consistent performance and professional growth.
Foster a culture of quality awareness and accountability throughout the organization.
Problem Solving
Analyze and resolve quality issues in a timely manner
Utilize root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies to address quality concerns
Implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurring issues
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with production, engineering, and design teams to integrate quality considerations into product development and manufacturing processes.
Act as the primary point of contact for quality concerns raised by customers or internal stakeholders.
Training and Education:
Develop and deliver quality training programs for employees to improve awareness and adherence to quality standards.
Promote continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality methodologies.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
Proven experience in quality engineering and process improvement within the furniture manufacturing industry
Strong knowledge of quality management systems and methodologies
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues
Leadership and team management experience
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
