General Statement of Duties / Distinguishing Features of the Class

This position is expected to run Memorial Day through Labor Day.

We are hiring temporary summer employees to perform landscape maintenance work in mowing, weed eating, raking, watering, sweeping, and general cleanup of City-County Parks and trails. Knowledge of using hand mowers, weed eaters and some hand tools is preferred. Employees must always maintain a clean and safe work environment including the use of gloves, safety vests, proper footwear and eye protection. This position works closely with the Parks and Recreation Department in other areas and activities as assigned.

Must be 16 years of age or over.

Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)

  • Performs unskilled manual work raking, watering, sprinkling, and sweeping.

  • Performs general cleanup of City-County parks and trails using weed eaters and small power or hand mowers.

  • Performs all duties and work assignments in a safe, healthy, and environmentally sound manner. Specifically, complying with the Health and Safety Program; maintaining work areas in a safe and orderly manner; identifying and reporting unsafe conditions; reporting all accidents; wearing required personal protective equipment, and attending safety-related training sessions.

  • Performs all duties and work assignments in compliance with project quality requirements.

  • Acts responsibly and ethically, and in conformance with generally accepted business, occupational and professional standards.

  • Performs related work as required.

  • Follows all rules and regulations of Butte-Silver Bow.

  • Maintains a positive attitude when dealing with supervisors, other employees, and members of the public at all times.

Required Experience, Training, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.

  • Experience is preferred.

  • Must be able to operate weed eaters and small power or hand mowers.

  • Must be 16 years of age or over.

  • Possession of a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Montana.

  • Must be a resident of Butte-Silver Bow during employment according to Butte-Silver Bow Ordinance. See below.

  • "2.08.010 - Residence during employment. From and after October 1,1979, all employees of the local government of Butte-Silver Bow shall be bona fide residents within the boundaries of Butte-Silver Bow during the period of their employment by the government of Butte-Silver Bow. (Ord.85§1,1979)"
