LIFESTEPS Child Services Assistant in BUTLER, Pennsylvania

Lifesteps is immediately hiring a part-time Child Services Assistant to work in the Butler, PA office.

Position Summary: 

The Childrens Services Assistant role works both hands on with children and also administratively in an office setting.

The main function of the Child Services Assistant is to schedule, conduct, and score developmental screenings for children ages birth to 5 years old.    

  • Duties include calling perspective families or daycare centers and childrens groups to schedule them for a date to have a screening conducted. 
  • Follows the provided screener tool to evaluate hearing, speech, motor skills, and cognitive areas.
  • Responsible for sharing the results of the screening to the parents in a professional manner 
  • Provides parents with information on developmentally appropriate activities, services, and child development.
  • Travel throughout the assigned area to conduct meetings and screenings

Office duties consist of answering the telephone, using Microsoft Outlook to schedule appointments, track screenings in a database or excel file, create reports, type letters, etc.

The Part-time position works in the Butler location, Wednesday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. 

No Weekends, No Evenings. No Holidays!!

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years experience working with children - can be paid or unpaid work such as Summer Camps, Church Nursery, Babysitting, Bible School, Daycare, Childcare staff, Assistant Group Supervisor, Teacher Aide, Volunteering with children, etc. 
  • Ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to provide acceptable state clearances
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Current driver's license and the ability to travel for business with personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement available)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Human Services  or related field
  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, Human Services or a related field
