The Pharmacy Floor Technician supports the safe and accurate fulfillment of prescription medications in a high-volume pharmacy setting. Working under the supervision of a pharmacist, this role focuses on picking, labeling, scanning, and preparing prescriptions for final verification while maintaining strict compliance with regulations and internal policies.
Responsibilities
Fill daily drug orders accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas, including prepack racks, according to prescription orders.
Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to verify accuracy before final pharmacist review.
Alert the pharmacist on duty to any medication or product that does not scan properly or appears incorrect.
Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle or dispose of medications according to established procedures.
Prepack frequently ordered medications, label them, and store them appropriately during low-volume periods.
Package materials and products manually to support the fulfillment process.
Maintain a clean and organized designated workstation and replenish stock and supplies as needed.
Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA requirements for patient privacy and confidentiality.
Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code.
Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required based on business needs.
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall pharmacy operations.
Essential Skills
Current pharmacy technician license issued by the Illinois Board of Pharmacy.
Proof of national Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in a fulfillment, specialty pharmacy, or long-term care pharmacy environment.
High school diploma or GED.
Strong computer and data entry skills to maintain accuracy in order processing and documentation.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to ensure accurate interpretation of prescriptions and labels.
Ability to stand for long periods of time during shifts.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds safely and repeatedly as needed.
Ability to work at a moderate speed while handling high-volume orders with attention to detail.
Knowledge of pharmacy operations, including filling and fulfillment workflows.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a fulfillment, specialty pharmacy, or long-term care (LTC) pharmacy setting.
Familiarity with pharmacy data entry systems and electronic workflows.
Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and quality in medication preparation.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Reliability and flexibility to support extended hours, overtime, holidays, and rotating weekends as needed.
Work Environment
This role is based in a pharmacy fulfillment facility in Burr Ridge, Illinois. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with rotating weekend shifts from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Extended hours may be necessary based on business needs. The work environment is fast-paced and production-oriented, with technicians spending long periods standing, moving between shelving and storage areas, and manually packaging and labeling medications. Team members regularly lift up to 25 pounds and use computer systems and scanning equipment to process and verify orders. The facility follows established safety, attendance, and dress code policies to maintain a professional and compliant workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burr Ridge, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.84 - $23.00/hr.
